Save Soil! An Initiative by the youth!!!!
On the 12th of April, 2022 an awareness program of global concern ‘Soil Extinction’ was conducted by Mr. Vamsi, Mr. Bharghav and their team in the school auditorium as a part of the “Save Soil” movement. This included a video of Sadhguru, who briefly described the situation. He also mentioned that the problem is mainly due to the extinction of soil microbes (the helpers of the farmers). We must also remember that if plants suffer, we suffer next. Also, the food shortage might even result in civil wars all over the country. The fact that there is only 40-50 years of agricultural soil left on the planet , saddened all of us. The program recommends policy changes, educating the farmers about the excessive usage of pesticides and fertilizers to save soil. The gravity of situation made all the students put on their thinking caps and they used their voice to write a letter to the Prime Minister highlighting the same. The auditorium full of students gyrated to the “Soil Song” while some swayed rhythmically with placards in their hands! It was a wake up call for all of us to do something about saving the soil or else we are surely heading for a disaster.

MUN is a great start to become a great leader and a change- maker. It is a platform to grow as a person of strong convictions, to master social and emotional intelligence, and to experience and apply learning to life.
Samuel Johnson said – ‘Self Confidence is the first requisite to great undertakings.’ MUN instills in our youngsters, some dynamic and some nervous delegates, the obligation to be passionate about world events and be convinced to speak and negotiate the truth with an undivided mind.
The fun and entertainment of public speaking exercise and the bonding with other members of Model United Nations is an experience that never goes away.

MODEL EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT
Harsha Manchella of grade XI participated in the Model European Parliament under the ‘Connected Europe programme’ , a part of the MOVE series supported by AFS Germany and the Mercator Foundation .
The event was held from the 13th of November to 29th of November 2020 . Harsha had the unparalleled opportunity of representing the Identity and Democracy party from the Austrian constituency.
The event exposed the structural and functional aspects of the European Union to Harsha, who was piqued by the sheer diplomatic environment around him, on top of being the only non-European attendee of the event. Harsha passionately raised questions and steered discussions on topics ranging from Climate Change to refugee policy. More importantly, Harsha recalls the event of being an insight into the differences between the Indian and European method of parliamentary functioning. The vision of AFS and its events is not merely cultural exchanges, but helping equip the students with the requisite exposure of the social, economic and political labyrinth surrounding them, which would eventually become their institutions to administer and govern.

AFS:Virtual Effect + Global Citizenship Education Workshop
Be the Change Maker
Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future. While human progress is inevitable, it is essential that our actions and methods touch each and every individual around us, ensuring that the collective contribution of society is not hindered. While each one of us had our own perception of this target, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) workshop, organised by the AFS was an astonishing and mind-altering event for the participating students which condensed the question of universal change into a more coherent solution, permeating one’s minds and getting synthesized with our own previous knowledge of the goal. The current pandemic exposed us to the immense need for global citizenship, and this workshop perfectly encapsulated the idea, helping link the road ahead of us in terms of bringing a change with the current problems plaguing our world now. Now, we understand that Change making is all about working for betterment and being able to influence others to do the same.

World Read Aloud Day
Ruskin Bond said,” Books are man’s best friends and are more than the king’s treasure”.
So, it is important to read books, breathe books and feel books.
Unfortunately, reading habit is dying down as the world has adopted technology at a fast pace. But nothing can beat the feel of a book in your hand while reading sitting on your settee. A ‘Kindle’ cannot substitute the book.
Armchair traveling can make one’s life very interesting. You go around the world without spending anything with an added advantage of gaining knowledge and wisdom.
Today to commemorate World Read Aloud Day, I urge the young and the old alike to Read, Read and Read.
DEAR – Drop, Everything and Read Aloud should be the motto.
Reading habit can make you a happier and a wholesome person.

‘Chai and Chat’: A Glimpse into the Future with AI
On the 31st of July 2023, the kindergarten stage was transformed into an intimate setting for ‘Chai and Chat’, an informal leadership talk aimed at the budding minds of classes 11 and 12.
Conducted between 3 to 4 pm, the event witnessed Mr. Chelle Haren, a proud alumnus of HPSR’s 2010 batch, leading an enlightening discussion on the topic ‘Future with AI’. The atmosphere was electric, with students brimming with curiosity about the vast world of Artificial Intelligence.
Throughout the talk, the students exhibited a desire to understand the myriad uses and importance of AI in our ever-evolving technological landscape. Their questions reflected concerns of the modern age – how to stay safe in a digital realm dominated by AI, what are the dos and don’ts when interacting with such technology, and what our coexistence with AI might look like in the coming years.
Mr. Haren emphasized the dual role of AI in the future. On one hand, AI can effortlessly execute mundane tasks, speeding up processes. On the other hand, this automation underscores the dire need for the present generation to remain innovative. “The future with AI will be safe and prosperous only when people embrace their creativity and innovation,” he remarked.
The takeaway from this engaging session was clear: While AI will undeniably play a significant role in sculpting our future, human ingenuity and creativity remain irreplaceable.
In the shadow of the setting sun, as the stage was cleared and students dispersed, the echoes of a future harmoniously entwined with AI resonated, marking the success of yet another enriching ‘Chai and Chat’ session.
Yuva Yukta G 20 Summit: Young Minds, Global Solutions
On August 29th and 30th, The Hyderabad Public School, Ramanthapur, was abuzz with the fervor of diplomacy, discussions, and dynamic solutions. The Yuva Yukta G 20 summit, an interschool competition that brought together nine schools, served as a breeding ground for fresh ideas, passionate debates, and budding diplomats.
Mirroring the format of the real G20 summits, each participating school nominated ‘sherpas’ – representatives responsible for guiding discussions on the school’s behalf. These sherpas delved deep into the pressing issues of our times. The dialogues they fostered were a testament to their preparation, insight, and commitment.
A standout feature of the summit was the draft resolutions presented by the students. Moving beyond mere theoretical discussions, the students took a deep dive, proposing practical solutions to global problems.
The summit was more than just a competition; it was an experiential learning platform. Students grappled with real-world problems, understood the complexities of international diplomacy, and learned the art of negotiation and compromise.
As the curtains came down on the Yuva Yukta G 20 summit, there was a palpable sense of achievement, pride, and optimism. It was evident that such events play a crucial role in shaping the worldview of students and empowering them to be the change-makers of tomorrow.
